If You Read One Article about Rishi's First Class Indian Food Read this One

A few days ago we went to the Perth Road for my husband’s back treatment at West End Osteopathic Clinic and afterwards we decided to have dinner somewhere in that area.

When people ask me in general which kind of food do I fancy or crave, my answer would always be “kahit ano” (just anything in English). Marco asked me what I would like to eat, I responded with “Whatever you like. Anything is okay for me."

In the Perth Road and Hawkhill area of Dundee, you can find a variety of Indian restaurants that look appealing and appetizing from the outside. Yup, I believe that sometimes you can judge what the food will be like by just merely looking at the exterior of the restaurant. Someone once said, “First impressions are long-lasting impressions”. An impression is an impact produced by the senses, thoughts or emotions which signifies an engraved mark or discern.

Nevertheless, we kept on walking and walking while browsing the web through our phones to check a nice restaurant in close proximity to where we were. An Indian restaurant named 'Rishi’s Restaurant' looked very appealing to both of us so we instantly called them to find out if they had a table available. Fortunately, we got our table on the spot even though we reserved it at short notice. It was a Tuesday and Dundee is generally quite quiet on Tuesday's so we were both thankful for this.

"Rishi’s Indian Aroma offers a mix of traditional classic favourites and original dishes. Made from freshly ground ingredients, we serve fresh and healthy food, the taste originating straight from our grandmother’s Kitchen."

"Come to Rishi’s to experience the native best of both north and south Indian delicacies, and allow us to take you on a journey through our extensive menu. Experience our specialities and a host of traditional deserts."

On being seated we were presented with their extensive menu and we ordered our drinks while browsing the food menu. Marco had a pint of Coca-Cola, I had a cappuccino and later we shared a mango Lassi.

Cappuccino £2.00/ 141.69 PHP/ $2.66

Mango Lassi £2.75/ 194.80 PHP/ $3.66
This Indian drink is similar to a mango milkshake and it’s delightful. Great for cooling your tongue when you’ve consumed a lot of spicy food!

According to desiblitz.com, Lassi is the name given to a yoghurt based Indian drink to cool people down during hot summers. It is originally from the lands of Punjab and Multan in India. Yoghurt is blended with water and can contain some additives such as fruit, spices, jaggery or sweeteners. The two major variants of Lassi are sweet or salted.

While waiting on our meal we ordered some poppadoms that cost 75 pence each (53.19 PHP/ $1.00) and they came with a side of mango chutney and onion chutney.

We had Lamb Rogan Josh and Lamb Karahi for our mains which were very aromatic, full of flavor and the lamb itself was possibly the most tender lamb I had ever tried. The food was accompanied by a naan bread (we opted for the cheese one) and a relatively large portion of pilau rice. It was terrific!
Curry on the left side- Lamb Karahi (£10.95/ 775.65 PHP/ $14.57)
Lamb cooked in caramelized onion, tomato, chillies, ginger & garlic.

Curry on the right side- Lamb Rogan Josh  (£10.95/ 775.65 PHP/ $14.57)
Braised lamb chunks cooked with a gravy based on browned onions or shallots, yoghurt, garlic, ginger and aromatic spices.

"Curry is a dish originating in the cuisine of the Indian subcontinent, Complex combination of spices and herbs, fresh, dried or roasted and formulated to give the curry a distinct and unique taste, The Word Curry is derived from the South Indian Tamil Language, Rishi’s Heritage & Home Town."- Rishi's

“Influenced by thousands of years of South Indian culture, the food at Rishi’s Indian Aroma has been carefully prepared to present an interesting and exciting representation of one of the world’s most popular cuisines. A modern and colourful venue fit for all kinds of occasions, the restaurant can seat up to 90 people in total.”

"We promise an intimate and relaxed dining experience that offers something different to local and foreign patrons and ensures you enjoy a memorable food experience every time."

The interior, the staff and the extensive menu are all amazing and most importantly, the food is delicious. It was a very satisfying experience and we will certainly go back!
